The founder of Dakota Beef in Howard, South Dakota, Scott Lively is an industry leader in the production and sale of organic beef. In addition to his work in the food sector, Scott Lively owns the Minor League Baseball team the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks. The baseball team was founded in 2010, and embarked on its inaugural season in 2011. Since then, the team has won two different championships through the Futures Collegiate Baseball League.

In January of 2019, the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks joined the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL), a wooden bat college summer league that operates throughout all six New England states. Over the years, approximately 150 NECBL alumni have gone on to play in the Major Leagues.

By bringing the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks into the League, the NECBL increased the total number of its member teams to 13. The 2019 NECBL expansion is the first that the organization has undertaken since 2016.
